Dating safely

Most people you meet are exactly who they say. These habits protect you from the few who aren’t.

In an emergency, call 999

If you feel unsafe on a date, leave and call 999 if it is an emergency. For anything else, contact Norfolk Constabulary on 101 or report online.

Never send money to someone you haven't met

Romance scammers ask for money, gift cards or crypto, often with a sad or urgent story. Report it to Report Fraud, the service that replaced Action Fraud, online or on 0300 123 2040. If you have already paid, call your bank quickly.

If someone won't leave you alone

Repeated unwanted messages, following you or turning up uninvited can be stalking or harassment. Keep screenshots and note the dates. Norfolk Constabulary explains how to report it.
